Scaffolding Safety Railings
Scaffolding Safety Rail Systems provide critical fall protection for crews working at elevated heights. Designed for seamless integration with both 5' x 5' Outdoor Towers and Bakers Scaffolds, these systems include top rails, mid-rails, and toeboards to create a secure perimeter that meets strict safety standards.
System Options
- 5' x 5' Outdoor Guardrails: These heavy-duty steel rails attach directly to the top of the end frames. The system includes 7-foot side rails and 5-foot end rails to fully enclose the working platform.
- Bakers Scaffold Guardrails: Specifically sized for the 29" x 6' interior units, these rails include a swing-gate or access point, allowing workers to enter the platform safely without climbing over the protection.
- Toeboards: Essential for both types, these prevent tools, debris, or materials from accidentally being kicked off the platform and hitting workers below.
OSHA Compliance Highlights
- The 10-Foot Rule: OSHA mandates a complete guardrail system for any scaffold platform 10 feet or higher above a lower level.
- Rail Height: Top rails must be installed between 38 and 45 inches above the platform surface, with mid-rails positioned halfway between the top rail and the deck.
- Structural Integrity: Rails must be able to withstand a force of at least 200 lbs applied in any downward or outward direction to ensure they can catch a worker during a fall.
- Full Enclosure: To be compliant, all open sides and ends of the platform must be protected by the rail system.
