Auger Bit 1 or 2 Man
Power Auger Bits (4" to 12")
Power auger bits are engineered to handle specific soil conditions and project requirements, with diameters typically ranging from 4 to 12 inches in 2-inch increments. The 4" and 6" bits are ideal for high-repetition tasks like installing metal T-posts, soil sampling, or planting small shrubs, as they offer minimal resistance and are easily managed by 1-man handheld units. As you move to 8" and 10" bits, you reach the industry standard for residential fence posts and deck footings, requiring the increased torque of hydraulic 1-man units or 2-man powerheads to ensure a clean hole through clay or roots. The largest common size, the 12" bit, is designed for heavy-duty structural applications like large tree plantings or industrial gate posts; due to the massive soil displacement, these are best paired with towable hydraulic augers to provide the necessary stability and leverage for a professional finish.
