7' Scaffold Plank (for 5x5)
7' Scaffolding Planks serve as the heavy-duty working surface for 5' x 5' scaffolding systems. These planks are engineered to span a 7-foot bay, providing a stable, slip-resistant platform for crews, tools, and materials. Available in Aluminum, Aluminum with Plywood Decking, or OSHA-Grade Wood, they are designed to lock securely onto the frame’s bearers to prevent shifting during use.
Specifications & Safety
- Secure Fitting: Features notched ends or hooks that seat firmly over the scaffold frames. For wooden planks, a minimum overhang of 6 inches is required unless the plank is specifically cleated or restrained.
- Load Rating: Ensure the plank's load capacity matches the intended use (e.g., Light Duty for painting vs. Heavy Duty for masonry). Never exceed the maximum weight limit marked on the plank.
- Full Decking: OSHA requires the entire space between the uprights to be fully planked to eliminate gaps. For a standard 5-foot wide frame, multiple 19-inch wide planks are typically used to create a solid deck.
- Inspection: Before every shift, planks should be checked for cracks, rot, significant dents, or accumulated debris that could hide structural defects. Any plank that has been "saw-nicked" or overstressed must be removed from service.
